Post-Masters Certificate in Counselling

The 12-credit Post-Masters Certificate in Counselling (PMCC) program allows individuals with a master's degree in counselling, applied psychology, or equivalent to develop additional expertise in a particular area of specialization. To form their certificate program, students select four courses from those offered in the area of specialization selected.

Students may opt to focus their specialization courses in the following areas of concentration:

The PMCC program is designed for people who want to re-specialize in another area. You may be looking for a change of career direction or you may have taken a master's degree with a general focus and are looking for an opportunity to gain education and specialization in a particular area. You may also be missing courses required for licensure and want to roll them into the Post-Masters Certificate. All courses are offered online, so the entire program may be completed at a distance.

Students may study in the program on a full- or part-time basis. Part-time students must complete a minimum of six credits per calendar year. Normally, the PMCC program is completed in one year. Program students will be considered full time if they complete a minimum of nine credits in a given calendar year.

Since Post-Masters Certificate students may start the program throughout the calendar year, there is no fixed course schedule. You are encouraged to negotiate your program plan upon admission to the program. Be prepared to plan ahead to ensure course availability.
