PBDM Program Information

The PBDM program is for managers who do not wish to pursue an MBA or those who do not meet the educational requirements for direct admission to the MBA. The program instills effective analytical skills and raises awareness of the critical nature of the role managers have in organizations.

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Management (PBDM) program consists of six, three-credit courses for a total of 18 credits. The program is identical to Phase 1 of the MBA programs—six courses and one comprehensive examination.

A PBDM graduate who ceases studies and subsequently applies to an MBA program, will be required to pay any fee increases that occur between the time of last enrolment and re-application. Credit for courses previously completed will be re-evaluated and applied to the program requirements, where appropriate.

Students will normally complete the PBDM program in one and a half years. The diploma must be completed within two and one half (2.5) years. Athabasca University reserves the right to change the list of available courses at any time.

A minimum grade of 60 per cent is required for both the assignments and participation components in each course. The comprehensive examination is graded on a pass/fail basis, and an overall grade of 70 per cent is required to be awarded a pass.

Upon successful completion of the comprehensive examination and submission of the Application for Graduation Form, students may be awarded the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Management.
