Introduction

Athabasca University's Centre for Computing and Information Systems developed this two-year diploma in a technical stream to help accommodate the current and predicted growth of the IT (Information Technology) sector. A broad knowledge of computer and information systems subjects and an in-depth knowledge of informations systems and applications will be acquired in a student-centred learning environment.

The Diploma in Computing and Informations Systems was designed to develop the skills and knowledge appropriate for the IT professional who is either on the job or a new student who

  • holds a high school diploma
  • holds a post-secondary degree or diplomas in non-computing disciplines
  • is a non-computing professional with business experience
  • has some high school education and related work experience.
