The University Diploma in Inclusive Education is intended primarily for teachers
who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in the areas of special
needs. The program consists of 24 credits taken from either Athabasca
University or the University of Alberta, as both institutes offer
equivalent courses. Students are recommended to complete the core
course requirements at
their home institution. Exceptions must be approved by their Faculty's
program coordinator.
Students interested in enrolling in the program through the University
of Alberta should contact the Department of Educational Psychology for specific
program information.
Students interested in enrolling in the program through Athabasca
University will follow Athabasca University's program requirements
outlined below. Students may register in relevant University of
Alberta courses (or other post-secondary institution courses) for
transfer to Athabasca University. Students enrolled in the diploma
program at Athabasca University will, upon completion of the requirements,
receive the credential from Athabasca University.
Athabasca University advisors have developed a Program Plan to
assist you. The University has also developed program learning outcomes that describe the career options that may be available to you upon graduating.
