Advanced Accounting

University Certificate in Advanced Accounting

Regulations effective September 1, 2012.

The University Certificate in Advanced Accounting is designed to build upon the knowledge and skills students developed in the University Certificate in Accounting. Thus, the University Certificate in Accounting (or its equivalent) is required for enrolment in the program. Students holding an undergraduate or graduate degree with a major in accounting may not enrol in this program.

Transfer Credit completed more than 10 years ago in the following disciplines at the senior (300/400) level will not receive credit: ACCT, MGSC, LGST, MKTG, FNCE and TAXX. If you are currently working in the field and provide evidence of work being completed, this restriction will be waived.

Students complete the program regulations in effect at the time of their enrolment.

Recommendations for professional accounting associations:


CGA: Those wishing to pursue a CGA designation should select ACCT 453 and course(s) from the PACE level options (ACCT 465 (in development), FNCE 371, TAXX 401).

CMA: Those wishing to pursue a CMA designation should select MKTG 396, MGSC 368 or MGSC 369, and ADMN 404.
*Note: CMIS 245 is a prerequisite to CMIS 351. If you have not already completed a course equivalent to one of these prerequisite courses you may need to take it extra to this certificate.

CA: Those wishing to pursue a CA designation should select FNCE 401, TAXX 401, and ACCT 453.
