The following fees are effective for students registering in courses with a start date of Sept. 1, 2010 to August 31, 2011.

5.5 Challenge for Credit

The challenge for credit process allows you to demonstrate, without taking the course, that you have acquired a command of the general subject matter that would normally be found in a university-level course. The challenge for credit fee is non-refundable.

Before you consider registering in a challenge course, it is important that you read Section 6.4 Challenge for Credit.

The following are tuition fees only. If you wish, for an additional fee of $170, you may purchase the learning resources package when you register by selecting this option on the online (myAU) or print Challenge for Credit Form (PDF). The additional fee may be refundable (refer to Section 6.4.4 Challenge Refunds). Depending on where you live, allow approximately three weeks or more to receive your learning resources package.

Students may not challenge nine-credit courses, therefore those fees have not been included.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) allows you to demonstrate the university-level knowledge that you have gained informally through work or life experiences. By preparing a detailed portfolio for assessment, you may receive up to a maximum amount of credit within your AU program.

PLAR applications and the $750 fee may be submitted before the arrival of your completed portfolio.

For further information, visit the PLAR website.
