|Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition
If part of your learning is non-formal, such as through on-the-job training, Athabasca University may recognize this previous learning. There is a fee for this service.
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition evaluates learning that may count as credit toward a university degree, certificate, or diploma. You assemble a dossier or portfolio of evidence that indicates how your non-formal learning may contribute to a credential.
The portfolio should describe all of your non-credit, job-based, or other learning that has not received formal credit from an academic institution, but which you believe can be applied for credit at Athabasca University. .
Academic experts and individuals knowledgeable in the field described will assess your portfolio and, where appropriate, award credit for equivalent university-level learning.
