7.5 Unwritten Examinations

Occasionally, circumstances arise that prevent students from writing their examination on the date indicated on the Examination Request Form (to access forms, login to myAU) submitted to Athabasca University.

If this happens to you, you may reschedule your examination write date by following these steps.

To avoid a multiple examination fee, your newly selected write date must fall within five business days after your initial examination write date indicated on your original examination request form.

Ensure that your invigilator is able to reschedule to the newly selected write date. When you reschedule, your invigilator may assess a cancellation or rebooking fee.

Your newly selected write date must not extend past your course contract end date.

If you are unable to reschedule within five business days of the original examination write date submitted to Athabasca University, your invigilator must return the examination to the University. Next, you and your invigilator must reschedule another examination write date that does not extend past your course contract end date. If you are writing a supplemental examination, you must request it within three months of your initial examination write date. You must write the supplemental examination within one month of requesting it. Refer to Section 7.6 for supplemental examination information.

When an examination is returned unwritten to the University, and it is requested again (you must complete and submit a new Examination Request Form. To access forms, login to myAU.), you must pay a multiple examination fee. To avoid a delay, please ensure that the correct fee accompanies your form, either by mail or online. Please refer to Section 7.2.1 Holiday Closures and Late Examinations.
