Athabasca University Alumni Relations

All students who graduate from Athabasca University become alumni of the University. Athabasca University's Alumni Relations program is committed to supporting the University, to facilitating lifelong learning opportunities, and to providing services for alumni. A per-course fee to operate the alumni program is paid as part of your Athabasca University undergraduate course registration. Refer to Section 5.6. Students' Union and Alumni Relations Fees.

Athabasca University Students' Union

Athabasca University Students' Union (AUSU) is an organization of student volunteers governed by an elected student council of up to nine students. The office is located in the Edmonton Learning Centre. AUSU publishes an electronic student magazine, The Voice, and undertakes numerous duties throughout the year, including student advocacy, administering the Study Buddy and Student Mentor programs, providing scholarships, conference and emergency funding, and sponsoring student groups and clubs. AUSU invites all Athabasca University students to get involved. Your input is welcome. For more information, review our Web site.

Fees are rated per credit and are paid through your Athabasca University course registration or reregistration. For non-credit courses, an equivalent credit rate is used. The equivalent credit rate is based on the regular contract period for a course. Refer to Section 5.6. Students' Union and Alumni Relations Fees.

Ombuds Office

The Ombuds Office can be a student's last resort, offering assistance when regular University channels have failed. Or Ombuds staff can provide information or referral services when students are unsure where to begin. The Ombuds Office provides students with a single, accessible focal point for assistance in finding solutions to problems or complaints by:

· information and referral service
· investigation
· informal negotiation
· facilitating communication between student
  and administrative staff and faculty
· making recommendations.
