AU's exam centres are located in the Edmonton and Calgary Learning Centres, in Athabasca, and at many post-secondary institutions across Canada (referred to as the Exam Invigilation Network).

Students who live within 100 km of an exam centre must write their exam at one of the centres. Students are not required to use the centre closest to them. Students who live more than 100 km from an exam centre may write their exam closer to home provided they arrange for a volunteer who meets the invigilator guidelines and who is willing to invigilate the exam.

Exams written at Athabasca University Central are invigilated by the Office of the Registrar at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding public and University holidays).

International Students

International students and Canadian students living overseas, write their exams at an approved post-secondary institution or a Canadian Embassy.

7.4.2.

Grouped Study/e-Class® Courses

Unless a student has obtained professor approval, all students write the exam coordinated by the grouped-study course instructor at the same place, date, and time.

7.4.3.

Unwritten Exams–Individualized Study

Occasionally, circumstances arise that prevent a student from writing the exam on the scheduled write date.
With the permission of the invigilator, you can reschedule the exam write date. Your new exam date must be scheduled within 5 business days after the initial write date and must not extend past your course contract date.

Please note that invigilators are under no obligation to reschedule your exam and may assess a cancellation and/or rebooking fee.

If you are unable to reschedule within these guidelines, your invigilator must return the exam to AU. Next, you must reschedule another date with your invigilator that does not extend past your course contract date. Then complete and submit a new Examination Request Form and provide the appropriate multiple exam fee.

Late Exams/Holiday Closures

Individualized study students with contract dates ending December 31, 2004, will be allowed to undertake late examination(s) due to holiday closures.

These students will have until Saturday, January 15, 2005 to complete their examination(s). Due to University holiday closures, and delivery timelines, these exams must be requested by Dec. 20, 2004. Exams are not shipped between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

This is NOT an extension to the course contract. All other course work, including assignments and quizzes, must be completed on or before the course contract end date of December 31, 2004, at which point tutor support will discontinue.
