6.7. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition

If part of your learning is nonformal, such as through on-the-job training, AU may recognize this previous learning.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition evaluates learning that may count as credit toward a university degree, certificate, or diploma. You assemble a dossier or portfolio of evidence that indicates how your nonformal learning may contribute to a credential.

The portfolio should describe all of your noncredit, job-based, or other learning that has not received formal credit from an academic institution, but which you believe can be applied for credit at AU.

Academic experts and individuals knowledgeable in the field described will assess your portfolio, and where appropriate, award credit for equivalent university-level learning. There is a fee listed in Section 5 for this service.
