6.2. Admission and Enrolment |
|
|
|
|
All students admitted to AU
are required to choose one of 3 main admission classifications: “unclassified,” “program,” or “graduate.”
|
1.
|
Unclassified students
include non-program students, visiting students (see below), and
transfer students (students taking courses for admission purposes
to another institution). The same course registration requirements
apply to both program and unclassified students.
Unclassified students register in one or more AU course(s) for
credit, but are not enrolled in a program at AU. Because of this
AU does not evaluate previous post-secondary education or award transfer
credit for students in the unclassified category.
As a visiting student, you must obtain a Letter of Permission
(refer to 6.9.)
from your home institution before you register in an AU course.
Ensure that the Letter of Permission indicates that the institution
will accept the AU course in your program. AU is not responsible
for misinformation given to students by another institution.
As a visiting student, you must request that a transcript
be sent to your home institution when you complete your course(s).
A Transcript Request Form is
included in your learning resources package or online.
|
2. |
Program students may be enrolled
in any of the undergraduate programs offered, including degree,
diploma, or certificate programs. Students may enrol in only one
Athabasca University program at a time.
Students who change from the unclassified to a program category
(AU degree, university certificate or university diploma program),
may use credits earned while in the unclassified category provided
the course meets the requirements of the program, including any
restrictions on the age of a course, if applicable.
|
3. |
Graduate students are enrolled in
any one of the graduate programs offered by AU. Students may not
enrol in a graduate program at AU while they are enrolled in a program
at another post-secondary institution.
