This three-year, 90-credit degree program is a focused, professional
degree program in administration and organization. Graduates will
acquire the problem solving, critical thinking, and communications
skills needed in the global marketplace along with the administrative
and managerial skills needed by those holding responsible positions
in today's organizations. The Bachelor of Administration (Post
Diploma) is open to holders of approved 2- or 3-year diplomas from
a college or technical institute.
Students with approved 2-year college diplomas in business or a closely
related field will receive a block transfer award of 60 credits towards
the first 2 years of the Bachelor of Administration (Post Diploma)
except students from approved Ontario colleges who will receive 45
credits (effective Jan. 1, 2004). These students must complete additional
credits in non-Administrative Studies courses to complete the first
60 credits of the program. Ontario students with approved 3-year diplomas
in business or a closely related field will receive a block transfer
award of 66 credits towards the Bachelor of Administration (Post Diploma).
A maximum of 6 credits may be awarded by portfolio assessment through
the Prior
Learning and Recognition office. Athabasca University advisors have developed a program plan to assist you.

Program Concentrations
Students must select one of the following concentrations. |
|
|
|
|
•
|
The Health
Administration concentration is closed. Students may want to consider the Bachelor
of Health Administration.
|
• |
The
Industrial Relations and Human Resources concentration is closed. Students may want to consider the Bachelor
of Human Resources and Labour Relations.
|
• |
The
Management concentration
seeks to equip students with the
general skills required for positions
in the major functional areas of
management today. |
• |
The Organization concentration
seeks to develop a thorough
awareness and understanding of
the many ways individuals and
groups organize tasks to effectively
meet set objectives. The era of
globalized production, which
forces organizations to become
leaner, less bureaucratic and more
entrepreneurial, is creating new
organizational forms. Recent
interest in such themes as the “learning organization,” “total
quality management,” and
“reengineering,” is a reflection
of these trends.
