Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest faculty at Athabasca University, with a wide variety of programs and courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Programs available at the graduate level are Master of Arts – Interdisciplinary Studies (MA-IS), the Post-Baccalaureate in Legislative Drafting (PBDLD), and the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Heritage Resources Management (PBD:HRM).

Athabasca University's Master of Arts—Interdisciplinary Studies degree prepares graduates to approach problems holistically, to seek information in new locations, to combine knowledge and research from diverse disciplines, and to explore integrated methods.

The program provides students the opportunity to pursue an individualized plan of study across disciplinary boundaries in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Legislative Drafting program provides an in-depth analysis of the principles underlying legislative drafting in common law jurisdictions and a thorough introduction to sound drafting practice.

This program is ideal for individuals early in their drafting career, those wishing to enter a drafting careers, and individuals from all levels of government and non-governmental agencies or departments involved in planning and writing laws, bylaws, policies, and similar material.

Athabasca University's Heritage Resources Management program is offered as an Undergraduate Certificate and as a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Heritage Resources Management.
